Ko Tarutao Island Beaches & Snorkeling
Highlights:Snorkeling, boating, beachcombing on Thailand's famous tropical islands. Enjoy Thai food and massage after your day exploring the crystal clear turquoise waters and coral reef.Tarutao National Park consists of 7 of the most beautiful islands in the straits of Malacca in the Indian Ocean. Ko Tarutao is the largest island in the with area 151 sqkm of 11 km. wide and 24 km. length. The other islands are Ko Adang, Ko Rawi, Ko Lipe (Nipis), Ko Dong (Budang), Ko Lek (Bisi) and Ko Klang (Tengah). Tarutao National Park boasts some of the best snorkeling in all of Thailand due to its remote location. Ko Tarutao features waterfalls, streams, beaches, and caves. Protected dolphins, lobsters, and dugongs reside in the crystal-clear turquoise waters, and wildlife such as mousedeer, wild pigs, fishing cats and crab-eating macaque on the islands themselves. Sea turtles such as the Pacific ridley, hawksbill, green and leatherback, come up to the pristine beaches of these islands lay their eggs in the months of September and April. Excellent snorkeling can be found amongst the well-protected coral reefs at the northwestern part of Ko Tarutao at Pha Papinyong (Papillon Cliffs), at Ao San, and in the channel between Ko Tarutao and Ko Takiang (Ko Lela) off the northeastern shore. Another interesting feature is on Ao Talo Udang on Ko Rang Nok (Bird Nest Island) where expensive swiftlet nests can be found, a Chinese delicacy. 5 Day ItineraryExplore the turquoise waters, brilliant white sand beaches and famous limestone karst formations of Ko Tarutao. It’s composed of many beautiful islands such as:• Hin Ngam island - Famous for its beautiful stones protected by an ancient legend. • Kai Island - Famous for its white sandy beaches which are the landmark of Tarutao. • Ko Lipe - The island of the sea gypsy. The spectacular coral reef, soft coral and white sandy beaches are the most attractive in the archipelago. Afternoon to relax at your leisure..Transfer and overnight at Pak Bara in Satul or similar. DAY 2 HAAD YAI - TARUTAOPick up at your hotel and transfer to Pak Bara Pier to depart to Tarutao National Park. Visit Tarutao Island including Tohboo cliff and the spectacular vistas of Pantaemalaka bay and the canals blanketed by rich rainforest. Depart Tarutao for the pure white sandy beaches of Lipe Island. Brief stop at Kai Island to see the natural stone arch on the way to Ko Lipe. Overnight on Lipe Island.DAY 3-4 SNORKEL & RELAX ON THE ISLANDS!Enjoy boating, snorkeling and relaxing around the Islands! Start with Ko Hin Ngam ("beautiful rock") Island, then explore the crystalline blue waters of Ko Jabang to see colorful soft coral, and the island paradises of Ko Adung, Ko Rawi and Ko Dong Islands. Continue in the afternoon to visit the islands of Hin Sone, Pung Yai and Pung Noi. Then visit a village inhabited by Thailand's famous gypsy boat people.
