Activities by Region

Sarapiqui Region

Paddle the Sarapiqui and Puerto Viejo Rivers. Hike La Selva Biological Preserve.  We've selected the Sarapiqui and Puerto Viejo as our first rivers for their lush beauty and ideal wildlife habitat. They allow us to start with easy Class I and move to exciting Class II, with a few easy Class III on two of the most beautiful rivers in Costa Rica. The banks of both rivers are lined with old growth rainforest, heavily laden with bromiliads and orchids. Both rivers bisect remote sections of La Selva Biological Preserve, which is amongst the most dense and biodiverse rainforest in the country.

Biologists from 64 universities around the world gather at La Selva for graduate programs that study the rainforest.  You'll enjoy a half-day hike in La Selva's dense rainforest, bordering Barullio Carillo National Park, with La Selva's expert guides. You'll learn about wildlife viewing techniques, Costa Rica natural history and habitat from the most qualified people in the world.

Arenal Region

Paddle the Penas Blancas (Class I) and then we'll choose from either the Arenal or Tres Amigos (Class II-III) rivers.  Scenic drive around Arenal Volcano, soak in a world-class hot springs. Hike El Silencio if time.

Guanacaste Region

Our paddle choices will be the Corobici (Class II) or Tenorio (Class I) rivers, both if time permits. Hike and explore alongside the Rio Celeste's unique cobalt-blue waters to a breathtaking waterfall and natural hot springs.

Carara Biological Preserve/Tarcoles

Observe crocodiles in their natural habitat from the safety of a bridge. Hiking and wildlife viewing in Carara Biological Preserve. Scarlet macaw migration.

Manuel Antonio National Park

Paddle the Savegre River, either a Class I or a challenging Class II-III section depending on conditions and skill levels.  Hiking, wildlife viewing, swimming, beachcombing, sunbathing and relaxing on Manuel Antonio's brilliant white-sand beaches, where the monkeys and centasaurs join you on the sand. Optional rainforest canopy tour.
