Sirena, the Heart of Corcovado

WILD PLANET ADVENTURES EXCLUSIVE!

This special variation of our award-winning 14-day Ultimate Wildlife eco-tour features Sirena, the Heart of Corcovado National Park. Sirena is the most wildlife-rich area of Costa Rica, the most remote and hardest to reach.

Days 1-9 are identical to our regular 14-day Ultimate Wildlife eco-tour, days 10-14 feature Sirena. We will access Corcovado National Park by a wet landing to Sirena from a base at Sirepe, and then cross the penninsula to one of the newest luxury lodges on the Osa Penninsula, featuring spectacular views of Golfito Bay.

Our regular 14-day Ultimate Wildlife eco-tour normally accesses Corcovado through Puerto Jimenez, Carate and Luna Lodge. These are the 2 best ways to access Corcovado, but of the two, Sirena offers the best chance of seeing jaguar, tapir and other rare and endemic wildlife. Both trips include all of the same destinations and activities from days 1-9.

Corcovado National Park is THE place you dream of when you think Costa Rica, and Sirena is the heart of Corcovado. It is the most wildlife-rich destination in all of Costa Rica. It is the most remote part of Corcovado and the hardest to reach; The only other way to get to Sirena is by a 37 km backpack or a private small plane.

Sirena’s remote location and difficult access is why it also is the most biodiverse part of Corcovado, and has the most wildlife --including many rare and indigenous species. Jaguars and Tapirs are regularly seen, Harpy Eagles have been spotted, bull sharks patrol the rivers and the trails are teeming with rare and endemic wildlife.  Corvovado is one of the last stands for many extremely rare and endangered species, and all of these animals are seen in Sirena more often than any other part of Corcovado.

Corvovado also holds the largest remaining stand of virgin rainforest in Central America and is one of the last truly unspoiled and wild places in the world. This is truly a very special and exclusive experience, with limited departures offered for 2009.

Highlights:

Bird & Wildlife Viewing in over 8 National Parks and Wildlife Preserves, Cloudforest Canopy Tour, Whitewater Rafting, Flatwater Wildlife Float trips, Sloth Wildlife Sanctuary, Day-hiking, Hot Springs, Beaches, Volcano, Night Hikes for Nocturnal Animals, expert naturalist guides, breathtaking rainforest lodges and much more! This special departure features arrival by boat into the remote local of  Sirena, teeming with rare and endemic wildlife, and relaxation at Villas Corcovado, one of the most beautiful luxury lodges in Costa Rica.
