Whale sharks congregate at Gladden Spit in the months of March to June during the mutton, cubera and dog snapper spawning period, principally ten days pre-and-post the full moon. Generally considered docile and harmless, whale sharks filter-feed as do the great whales. Observing these giants underwater is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. While the dedicated focus of this land-based expedition will be whale sharks, daily activities will include snorkeling among the coral reefs, searching for dolphins, manatees and howler monkeys, and observing scarlet macaws.
