** NOTE: Unlike Wild Planet Adventures, many companies will act as a middleman and "farm out" the river segments of their tours. How do you know if you are being "sold?" Just ask! 90% of the time they will run the most commercial rivers in the country (The Pacuare and Reventizon rivers) These are excellent for Class IV paddling, but with over 500 people a week running each of these rivers, they are less than ideal for our unique wildlife focus.
Our "Ultimate Wildlife" itinerary includes the Sarapiqui river (upper and lower segments) and the Puerto Viejo rivers. Both of these rivers bisect remote sections of La Selva Biological Preserve in Barullio Carillo National Park. We are one of the only people in the country to run this stretch of the Puerto Viejo river; we have never seen other paddlers there. The lower stretch of Sarapiqui also has more wildlife than people. This makes these rivers ideal for our clients, who would rather go "off the beaten path" and appreciate our dedication to intimate encounters with wildlife in their natural habitat!
