Laos
Vibrant nature, mountainous landscapes, and diverse ecosystems combine to make Laos a scenic and peaceful oasis amidst the hustle and bustle of most of Southeast Asia, and it’s rugged terrains keep it off the mainstream tourist trail. Featuring virtually unknown wildlife sanctuaries and more adventurous wildlife viewing too, Laos has something for every wildlife lover!
A Wildlife Lover's Paradise
Joins us as we explore the virtually unknown Nam Et-Phou Louey National Park, a remote haven for rare Indochinese wildlife such as otters, barking deer, Sambar deer, various species of civet cats, slow loris, porcupine and owls. Seeing clouded leopards or any of the park’s 6 species of wild cats is always quite rare, however, in this area – and on our nocturnal safaris - there can be real possibilities to spot them. Other possible sightings include dhole (Asian wild dog), gibbons, mustelids and mongoose. A small elephant population also exists on the nearby Nam Et River.
More adventurous travelers will also appreciate the thrills if staying overnight in a treehouse accessed by an exciting network of ziplines in Bokeo Nature Preserve. One of the most unique eco-tourism experiences in the world, these panoramic treehouses allow you to be up in the rainforest canopy, giving you front-row seats to witnessing gibbons singing their morning love duets to each other as the mist burns off the rainforest.
