Join the World's First Wildlife Tours in Borneo's "Lost World"
Created: 14 August 2015
A Wild Planet Adventures Exclusive!
We are thrilled to now be the first --and only-- international tour operator to offer wildlife eco-tours in Maliau Basin, also known as the fabled "Lost World" of Borneo. A nearly perfect circle, the basin is a virtually self-contained ecosystem never inhabited by humans and remaining largely unexplored. Efforts are underway to nominate Maliau Basin as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as it is one of the 3 oldest rainforests on earth, along with the Danum Valley, which is already included in our 12-day and 16 day Borneo "Weird & Wonderful Wildlife Eco-tour". Our new 16 day Borneo itinerary now features an exclusive wildlife expedition into the Lost World of Borneo, and more.
It's no wonder Maliau Basin is called the 'Lost World. The forest is so pristine and untouched, if you step off the trail it is likely that no other human will have ever set foot where you are standing! There are precious few places left on earth where that experience is still possible.
The Lost World offers perhaps the only remotely viable chance to see some of the world's rarest animals including the clouded leopard, sun bear, pygmy elephant, Malaysian badger, tarsiers, flying lemurs and the reclusive Bornean rhino.
Limited departures still available for Sept-Oct 2015, and Mar-Oct 2016.
